The Congress of Vienna is a trendy subject in history circles these days.  One can’t help but make comparisons between the nobles in Austria in 1815–all dressed to impress and lavishly partying–and the celebrities whose escapades are chronicled in the pages of US and People. 

Last spring David King’s Vienna 1814: How the Conquerors of Napoleon Made Love, War, and Peace at the Congress of Vienna was released.  You can read a summary and reviews at Amazon.  The picture above is the book’s cover.  This is on my list of books I would read if I didn’t have 4 children who stipulate that mommy reads only to them.   (FYI–trying hard not to end my sentences in prepositions per Ms. Demas’ request.) 

Also, here is a website published by a group that Weymouth High School won’t let me look at view.  When I get home I will uncover the scandalous source of what is, in my humble opinion, some very accurate and interesting information.  Among the items posted are waltzes that were written specifically for the parties at Vienna.
