History and My Story

Happy Anniversary To Me

Her Story

It’s been a year since I started this blog and I really can’t believe I lasted this long. This little project of mine began as an assignment in a graduate course I was taking on using technology in education. The other assignments I never really pursued with much passion—Ning, anyone? Twitter still seems pointless to me, even though I am giving that another go. My forray into the wiki-ing would not be considered a success….is the wiki war still going on?

I am quite pleased with what my students and I have accomplished with “History and My Story.” I imagined that I would use the space to tell more stories—you know the ones upper classmen suggest you ask me about—so that I wouldn’t have to waste class time telling the “crack story” for the 50th time. But actually, we have been using the blog to make connections between topics we are learning about in class and the world we live in now. Many of my posts have been inspired by student comments or emails.

It’s also been interesting to see how this little blog is being viewed by visitors from around the world. Even if they came here by mistake and quickly left—-as we suspect happens most of the time—-our clustr map has served as a reminder of how we are only an accidental mouse-click away from thousands of people all over the globe!

Since my mapping year is coming to an end the Clustr Map people are going to take away all of my dots and start me over from scratch. So before it gets deleted, lets take one last look at all the places that people have stopped by from:

It’s amazing that you’ve had the blog for a year. Usually teacher websites are abandoned after two weeks. I also like how the posts you made relate to stuff we are learning in class. Congrats!

Today, I think, is my real anniversary–March 16th.

Nice blog Mrs. Buell. You & I began blogging around the same time. I’ve learned so much in a year.

You seem to have many thoughtful students reading what you write too. If you want to see another excellent teacher blog visit Paul Bogush. He has several blogs, one for other teachers & a separate blog for students in his class. He even has students keep their own blogs as a writing project.

The best part of blogging to me is the global conversation. Twitter helps encourage this. I use twitter to alert others about new blog posts I’ve made & also about other’s articles as well.

    Keep up the good work.
