This video clip was very interesting and surprising. I knew that many people traveled to Mecca for the hajj, but I had no idea how many, and how much of and effort it is. It’s hard to believe that a women saved her money for twenty years just to go to visited a sacred city, and complete different rituals. To Islamic people this one of the most important things in their lives, so important that they will make extreme sacrifices just to fulfill their dream, to visit the sacred city

Wow, that’s amazing! There are so many people. I had no idea that this pilgrimage meant so much. The only thing I don’t understand is why the reporter is dressed in all black? Is that suppose to symbolize something, because everyone else is dressed in white.

Shawna, I was wondering the same thing. I took it to mean that she wanted to be respectful, but not seem like she was actually one of the pilgrims.

I think that the Hajj is sort of a strange concept. Is it almost like you’re not a true Muslim until you mke the pilgrimage? And I think it was strange how at the end the lady said that it would change their lives forever. What do they actually do there that changes you so much?

Hi. i found this site on jess’ blog. i have monty as a history teacher. You only wear white if your a pilgrim. (im muslim) Theres a very long process you do when you make the pilgrimage. They say once u do pilgrimage all ur sins are forgiven.oh and actually the Quran recommends you make the pilgrimage you don’t nessacarily have to do it.

Thank you very much Saad! We assumed that only pilgrims wear white, but I was not aware of sins being forgiven. Very interesting…again, thank you.

I never heard of the Hajj before this, and I think it’s great how devoted these Muslims are to their religion. Making this journey must take a lot of time and stamina. I think it is inspiring how these Muslims make such a long journey just for their religious beliefs.
