Her Story

First day of school here and there is definitely excitement in the air.  Hopefully in the months ahead when routines are in place and our days get more “ho hum” we can think back and remember today’s feelings, all full of hope and expectation as we embark on the high school years for the class of 2012.

The upcoming presidential election makes this an exciting time to be a history teacher!  We will be vetting the candidates’ postitions and discussing how past world events have impacted Obama and McCain personally as well as the policies of their respective political parties.  As high school students you should be paying attention.  Obama and McCain are planning your future!

Personally, I am sad as we begin the year.  My mother died on August 10th after a 34 year battle with a horrible disease called Scleroderma.  For the past five years or so she had been really suffering–and this summer was the worst.  Of course everyone keeps reminding me of what I already know…that my mother is finally at peace and out of pain, but I am still very very sad.

It felt weird on the first day back to school. I was so used to Abigail and it felt so odd being in a new bigger school. I got to know the staff/faulty at Abigail and I miss many of them. Hopefully I’ll get to know the staff/faculty and the teachers here well too and get to like them too. It’s gonna be awesome this year in history because of the presidental election. Being able to see what’s happening and be better involved. I’m sorry for your loss and I wish you luck in the future. I wish your family happiness and luck with theirs and your mourning. At least she is out of her pain and suffering and she is in a better place now, though.

Coming into High school, I was a little nervous, of course I knew many people, but just being in such a big school made me think of such a great time I had with my friends in eighth grade, and how that was all going to disappear. Then I realized it doesn’t have to disappear and that I will be able to share great memories with new kids. All of the teachers here are very nice and made such a big transition from middle school to high school that much easier. As for your mother,Mrs.Buell, the only thing I can say is that she must be in a better place, because raising someone like you, so nice, caring and smart, must have been a pretty great person herself.
